Who Is This?

Who is this in me
ordering me around?
And who is this obeying?

How did they get in,
and from where?
stars? bones? rumors?
or love’s starved mimings?

When will they shut up,
stand still, listen outward,
into the world’s music?

What can break in
to their noisiness
before we die of chatter?

How can we dance
with all things with
clutter like this in the way?

What do they know that I don’t?
And who knows better
than their blind sawing?
