The gray-black checked

crumpled how it
fell and was forgotten

was flattened by
traffic and rain

almost gone
against the rain-shined street

  3. I agree. We just got to know the shirt – I even got a bit fond of it – and it disappeared into the pavement. But then, perhaps that was a poem about people’s lives. When you think on it, there’s not alot of difference. Some get run down, some get hung up and others just wear out.
